SJC Town & Country Planning Consultancy was established in 2012 by Simon Craddock who had previously been employed by a local planning consultancy since 2006. During this time, not only did Simon form contacts with planning professionals across the Island and indeed the South Coast, but also gained an MA Town & Country Planning with Merit. During these years, Simon gained experience on a wide range of projects and every aspect of the planning process.
Simon has three degrees (a BSc HONS Leisure Resource Management, an MSc Ecotourism and an MA Town & Country Planning) all of which have provided the framework and tools needed to ensure that, whatever the nature of your development, the skills are in place and ready to go! A combination of these have developed a firm understanding and interpretation of local and national policy, especially in regard to sustainability, tourism and design matters.
From 2003 to 2006, Simon worked as a project officer for the Footprint Trust, a registered charity, where he was responsible for the setting up, management and overseeing of several community based projects, specifically those within the local community with an environmental focus. Working on a range of projects with a primary focus on community groups, including schools and other voluntary organisations, securing National Lottery funding (under the BTCV People’s Places grant funding project) which included the creation of public ponds, meadows and improvements to public facilities provided Simon with the project management and ‘people skills’ that ensure any scale of project is delivered smoothly, on time and importantly, to budget. Getting projects up and running, working to a timetable and strict budget were all part of the job.
Using the experience and knowledge from previous roles as a planning consultant, project manager and duty officer, Simon is confident that whether you are simply needing a helping hand or even someone to take on your entire project, SJC Planning can give you a fast, friendly and reliable service.
Simon and his wife, Mali, are taking this opportunity as a springboard to launch their own business. Mali’s role is to provide the administrative support, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Combined with several years working for a planning consultancy representing clients, Simon is confident that SJC Planning has the necessary tools needed to launch their own business:
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to develop a business that is focused on the client’s needs and aspirations, working within a field that is forever changing and regardless of scale of project, gives the opportunity to leave a legacy for future generations”
